Meet the Campus Minister:

Reid and Kelli Jones, together with their oldest daughter Lucy, moved to the Huntsville area in 2012 from West Jordan, Utah, where Reid was an assistant pastor at a PCA church in the Salt Lake Valley. They welcomed their second daughter, Jordan, shortly after they arrived.

The Joneses are glad to be back in their home state of Alabama after several years of being away for a few different ministry opportunities. Reid and Kelli met while attending Troy University (Go Trojans!) and they've been married for ten years. Reid received his Masters of Divinity from Reformed Theological Seminary (RTS) in Charlotte in 2010.

Reid and Kelli are excited to be ministering to college students at UAH. They have together been involved in several different college ministry contexts over the last 10 years and are very happy to be serving in their fifth year at UAH.

Meet our Interns!

Jennifer Kent joined our staff in the fall of 2014. Jennifer (pictured here on the right, with one of our students) grew up just a couple of hours north of Huntsville in Chattanooga, TN. She attended Brenau University as well as Kennesaw State University, where she graduated in 2014 with a degree in dance with a concentration in classical ballet.

In addition to dance, Jennifer enjoys hiking, taking yoga classes, and attending as many minor league baseball games as humanly possible (where she also like to take stats during the games)!

Jennifer is now in her third year at UAH, and is enjoying a great ministry with the UAH girls. She says that RUF helped her find a Christian community when she was a student where she could be herself and feel safe working through the big questions of life that come up during college. Jennifer was heavily impacted by her RUF Intern at Kennesaw State. She says, “My intern was someone who I knew loved me and was praying for me, as well as someone who I knew wanted to help carry my burdens with me. I hope that I will be able to be that person and friend to my students.”

JD Widhalm grew up in the Fleming Island area south of Jacksonville, Florida. After moving to Orlando with a couple friends to attend the University of Central Florida (Charge on!), he was introduced to RUF the week before classes started. Since then, he hasn't looked back. Over his four years as a student at UCF, RUF was a place where he found community, friends, sound Biblical teaching where the gospel was applied to all of life, and a place to give back and serve others. Over the course of several major changes, relationship conflicts, discouragement with work, and deep seasons of depression, RUF was a safe harbor in the midst of the storm. Especially the relationship and ministry of his RUF Intern who walked alongside JD through all of it, living out the gospel: loving and listening, yet also speaking truth and the gospel into those situations, which leads to the only true hope for growth and change.

Having graduated in 2016 with a degree in Human Communication, JD is looking forward to the opportunity of coming alongside college students, to love them, listen to them, and be authentically and honestly in process with one another as they grow in the good news of the gospel in community.
