About RUF

Reformed University Fellowship (or, RUF) is the campus ministry of the Presbyterian Church in America (PCA).  Although Presbyterian in creed, don't think that RUF is only for Presbyterians.  RUF exists for students of all types of religious or non-religious backgrounds. To put it another way, our mission as a campus ministry is both for non-Christians to be presented with the historic person and work of Christ, as well as for Christians to grow in Christ.

At the heart of RUF’s ministry to both groups of students is the life-changing message of the Gospel, as it’s revealed in the pages of the Bible. We believe that this Gospel makes us new people through Jesus, for through it God brings new life to those who are dead in sin, and therefore, separated from God.

When this Gospel takes root in Christians’ hearts through the ministry the Word, prayer, and worship, their personal encounter with the Lord will bear fruit in four areas:

  1. Growth in Grace: Growing in holiness, with dependence on the Holy Spirit to bring change within one’s heart.
  2. Evangelism and Missions: Proclaiming the Gospel of Jesus Christ to the university community and the world.
  3. Fellowship and Service: Living the reality that when Christians are united to Christ, they are also united to one another.
  4. Biblical World and Lifeview: Subjecting all of life to the authority of God and His Word.

What's the name all about?

[R] REFORMED
Simply put, “Reformed,” describes the biblical convictions of historic Christianity. The movement of the church which sought to renew these convictions afresh ministered the Christian gospel under the banners of “Faith Alone,” “Grace Alone,” “Scripture Alone,” and “To God Alone Be The Glory.” In calling ourselves “Reformed” we claim the same banners for our work.

[U] UNIVERSITY
More than just a ministry on the university campus, RUF seeks to be a ministry for the university. We strive to serve in this unique stage of a student’s life in the world they live in, exploring together how the Lordship of Christ informs every area of life.

[F] FELLOWSHIP
All human problems originate from our alienation from God, and those problems show up vividly in broken relationships with one another. God’s answer to human alienation is the sacrifice of Jesus on the cross, and His answer to disintegrated relationships is the church of Jesus. RUF is the arm of this restorative people reaching out to the college campus.
